"Are You Ready To Retire?"

Let's ask Trish!

POWER TALKING

THE ROCK: Why is entrepreneurship so important?
Trish: Entrepreneurship allowed me to enhance my business, create my own style of professionalism for my clients, and take it to the next level. You can’t do that when you are working for someone else.

THE ROCK: What is the upside of owning a business?
Trish: Your hard work is for you. I don’t mind working hard for myself.

THE ROCK: What is the downside of owning a business?
Trish: When you first get started, everything you make goes right back into the business. When things go wrong, everything comes to you. You have to fix the problem.

THE ROCK: What is your advice to someone who wants to start a business?
Trish: You must have perseverance, because it’s hard work, and you’re putting a lot of money into it. Don’t give up! Secondly, have working capital. You’re going to need that in the beginning, when you have a bad week.

THE ROCK: Tell us a little about your business?
Trish: We provide tax preparation for businesses and individuals. We also provide accounting and business consulting for small businesses. Lastly, we offer financial planning for anyone interested in saving for future goals, retirement, college education or if someone needs life insurance we provide that too. For small businesses, we can set up a 401k, a simple, or a SEP.

THE ROCK: What is your best advice to someone struggling to maintain a business?
Trish: I would seek advice from the Small Business Administration or decrease your expenses (Get a good accountant).

THE ROCK: How important are partnerships in business?
Trish: It depends on your personality. It was very important for us, because each partner is an expert in different areas of this business. If you like being in control of everything, then partnership isn’t for you.

THE ROCK: If you could change one thing about your business, what would it be?
Trish: I would have started earlier in my career.

THE ROCK: What three words best describe you as a businessperson?
Trish: Aggressive, professional, and caring. I really care about my clients.

THE ROCK: What defines success in America?
Trish: Reaching your goals, not necessarily monetary.

THE ROCK: What advice would you give to the youth that have an interest in entrepreneurship?
Trish: Go for it! Create a plan on paper. Set your goals. Make sure you set dates for your goals, and go for it!

THE ROCK: What other things keep you driven other than success in the business world?
Trish: I like helping people, giving good advice, and I like the support from my family. My husband was very supportive.

THE ROCK: Final comments Trish?
Trish: Yes, sit down with an accountant and financial planner. Prepare for your future!

THE ROCK: Thank you very much Trish, and best wishes in all of your future endeavors.
