NESHEE PUBLICATION

An Interview with Neshee Publication

THE ROCK: Who is Neshee Publication and where are you located?
Neshee: Neshee Publication is a distinguished publishing company based in Philadelphia but recognized worldwide.

THE ROCK: Can you tell us a little about your business, background, and how you got started?
Neshee: We are a distinguished self-publishing company that focuses on the creative works of Black writers/poets helping them become distinguished Black voices of authority. We are a husband and wife team that has been in the literary field for quite a while and wanted to share our talents with the world.

THE ROCK: What drew you to this profession?
Neshee: Reading is a very important skill in America and a vast majority of other places in the world; it is very versatile. We thought that if we can aid the community by aiding the authors who not only have good writing but who have good purpose as well that we could add to the richness that reading has to offer.

THE ROCK: What made you decide to go into business for yourself?
Neshee: Neshee Publication is more than a business to us; it is a business family so going into business was actually more like organizing a family reunion of professional people who take their work very seriously, and have a little fun while doing it.

THE ROCK: Why do you believe entrepreneurship to be so important?
Neshee: It is the entrepreneurial spirit that built America, and it will be that same spirit that will continue to lead it in a direction of progress, growth and development.

THE ROCK: What do you find are some of the upsides of owning a business?
Neshee: The upsides are that we are the boss, and we get paid to think. We work together (including the authors); therefore instead of growing apart, we grow together in love and accomplishment.

THE ROCK: What about the downsides?
Neshee: If their are any such things as downsides in this business, it would be that the work never stops-- it can last 18 hours or more, but who cares as we are making a living doing what we want and enjoy doing.

THE ROCK: What is your best advice to someone who wants to start a business?
Neshee: Start by discovering what it is you want to do; and after you have prepared well enough to start a business, get started right away.

THE ROCK: What is your best advice to someone struggling to maintain a business?
Neshee: Pay attention to profit. Do not think that just because you have money flowing in and out of your hands that you are making money because you could be making money but losing profit.

THE ROCK: How important are partnerships in business?
Neshee: Partnerships are at the top of the list of importance when it comes to business. If you can’t trust or count on your partner then you are in big trouble.

THE ROCK: If you could change one thing about your business, what would it be?
Neshee: We are always seeking change and new ways of providing quality service to our authors.

THE ROCK: What three words best describe the both of you as business people?
Neshee: Professional, Knowledgeable, and Helpful.

THE ROCK: What attribute(s) is needed to become a successful businessperson?
Neshee: Courage, smarts, open-mindedness, determination, and discipline are some of the many attributes needed to become a successful businessperson.

THE ROCK: How do you define success in America?
Neshee: Success in America is the same as it is all over the world or at least it should be, "Strong Family Ties and Values."

THE ROCK: What advice would you give to young people that have an interest in entrepreneurship?
Neshee: Learn as many things as you can and see which thing(s) are most attractive to you. Ask yourself would you like to make a business out of it/them. If so, then learn about the business aspect of it, and shoot for the sky.

THE ROCK: What is driving you to success?
Neshee: Our success is driven by a strong desire to be successful in what we do. We use our Neshee Code of Ethics and an equally strong love of good literature.

THE ROCK: What do you think are the hottest areas in new business ventures today?
Neshee: Education is the hottest field of any endeavor because without it you will struggle to succeed.

THE ROCK: Thank you,
Aalim and Heather Elitou.
