More substance than performance
A little more
Writing structure
Than quick speech
A bit more quiet than
Screaming emotions
Just a little more poetry

I am not a spoken word artist
I am a Poet
I share from my page
And give intelligent phrase
That may often be intense
Or delight your common sense
I can only retain so much in my head
So much to be said
So I step to the stage
With my page in hand
Take a deep breath before the stand
Then flow with the ease of
A majestic breeze on an Island
Where they speak Portuguese
It sounds like poetry when
You hear it
But I am just freeing my spirit
My words come from deep within
Poetry is my best friend
If I come back
I’ll do it again
I will not hip or hop
To a unified beat

I am too mature and I need my sleep
Still, my words are unique and
If I so desire I can bring the heat
I can make silence speak
I can make a miser treat
And make a real man weak
Who am I?
Simply a poet

I can drop words that
Move your spirit
Make you shout
I am what poetry
Is all about
Been doing this for years
Conquering my fears
From my lips to so many ears
When beautiful words touch my soul
Poetry sheds tears
Give me a moment
Let me make it clear
Poetry is life in motion
The reason we are here
I have no need to astound
You
Just let me wrap my words around you
They are honest and true
I will not shout
Or speak really fast
But my words, they are destined to last
I write therefore I am
So give me true poetry
And a little less Jam…

My melody may be
Different from yours
But our harmony might
Open doors
My groove may not
Make you tap your feet
But you will admit it is unique
My song has a beat of its own
My music has me in a zone
Sometimes I want to dance
Like I used to
But time keeps moving
And I’m grooving to another beat
I like your rhythm
You like my style
We just might connect after while
Just remember I am jazz
And you love sax
We can jam together
And those are the facts!
